Our Story

Playa Bowls™ was born at the Jersey Shore, founded by a pair of surfers inspired by a passion for travel, clean living, and coastal culture. From Panama and Costa Rica to Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, California, and Hawaii, beach towns around the world introduced them to vibrant local versions of açaí and pitaya bowls — fresh, energizing, and rooted in simple, wholesome ingredients. Inspired by those experiences, they set out to recreate their favourite recipes back home at the Jersey Shore, adding a signature Playa twist. What began as a small sidewalk pop-up outside a pizza shop in Belmar, New Jersey — with just a blender, a table, and a fridge — quickly captured the community’s attention. Through authentic storytelling, education around açaí, and a focus on positivity and connection, lines formed and a movement began. More than a decade later, Playa Bowls has grown to over 300 locations across the United States, building a vibrant brand centered on superfruit, community, and the endless summer mindset. Now, Playa Bowls is expanding internationally — launching in Canada with its first location in Toronto and plans to grow nationwide in 2026 and beyond.
